7 Reasons Why Business Video Marketing Is So Important (Even for Small Businesses)
37% of businesses are still not using video in their marketing. Of that number, only 48% feel it isn’t needed, which suggests there are many businesses that would like to use video but are not sure how to get started or don’t have the budget to prioritise it. And, of course, an almost equal number of businesses don’t understand the value of using video in their communications. When 81% of businesses with an explainer video on their homepage say that it has helped increase sales, it seems an inarguable fact that business video marketing is beneficial for all businesses (and that’s just one statistic).
[Warning: we're about to hit you with a lot of stats!]
We live in a multimedia world and the people your business is trying to reach are bombarded with information in all forms many times every day. You need to find ways to reach them in the places they visit online most and, when you do, you need to capture their attention in the mere seconds available to you. Relying solely on traditional advertising methods means you’re missing out on a huge number of potential customers.
Why Is Business Video Marketing So Important?
Hundreds of millions of hours of video are watched on YouTube every day by more than 1 billion users. Facebook has 8 billion video views per day. People are seeking out videos for both information and entertainment.
Video captures attention
As mentioned, you have a very short time to capture the attention of somebody browsing online. A visual communication will capture attention quicker than the written word. For example, we’ve all seen videos on social media that auto-play without audio; how many of those have sparked your interest?
Video can be used and repurposed across many kinds of media
Websites, social media, online advertising (yes, you can use videos in your ads, not just text and images), TV, in-app advertising, emails, ad screens (airports, shops, even doctors’ surgeries) all accommodate videos, so you only have to make it once and re-use again and again.
People share videos
92% of mobile video users share videos with others. Facebook videos are shared 7 times more than links. Social media users are so conditioned now to “like” and “share” their findings online that it’s almost subconscious. And visual media is by far the most popular. Videos are seen as entertainment even when they have a sales or teaching focus.
Videos increase sales
79% of consumers would rather watch a video to learn about a product than read text on a page, 84% of consumers have been convinced to make a purchase after watching a brand's video, and 91% of consumers have watched an explainer video to learn about a product or service. Videos not only cultivate trust and a better understanding but seeing something work is much more effective than reading about it.
Video increases action
Real estate listings with video receive 403% more enquiries than those that don’t. 82% of consumers have been encouraged to take action after watching a business’s marketing video. Does your print marketing have the same effect? If not, you need to be taking action on business video marketing.
Video aids in learning and retention of information
65% of people are visual learners and will understand and retain more information from watching a video than reading. If you are a B2B business and think the rules are different for you, it’s worth noting that 76% of executives watch work-related videos on business websites at least once a week with 59% of executives saying they would rather watch an explainer video than read text.
With one third of all online activity spent watching videos, and the popularity of videos steadily increasing, is business video marketing a trend you can afford to overlook?
